How to Play:
To complete the race, a team will visit 10 stops located in the Longmont area. At each stop, a challenge, either mental or physical, will be presented to the team. All challenges are intended for those ages 5 and up. (PLEASE NOTE: The race can take 3+ hours to complete and some 5 and 6 year olds find the race too much to get through.) Once a team successfully completes a challenge, they are given a clue to get to the next stop until they receive their final clue which will direct them to the Final Mat and the end of the race. Each clue will provide a riddle, puzzle or hint to solve in order to determine where the next stop is located. The first team with all members present at the Final Mat with 10 completed clues is the winner.
1. Put together a team with 2 to 6 members. Invite friends and family to join the fun.
2. Make sure your team has a minimum of 1 Flagstaff student and 1 adult driver.
3. Create a team name. Some teams dress similarly to get that real team spirit.
4. Remember that your entire team represents Flagstaff Academy!
5. Use your teamwork skills and have FUN!
During the race, there will possibly be other obstacles or choices for teams to make. Teams might run into the following situations:
Detour
A Detour presents a team with a decision between two challenges, each with its own pros and cons. The decision, about which challenge to attempt, lies solely with the team. A team may choose to switch challenges.
Roadblock
A Roadblock is a challenge that only one team member may perform. Once a team member has been selected, (s)he cannot switch. The Roadblock task is performed only by the selected racer while their team waits, although the team is able to supply words of encouragement.
Fast Forward
A Fast Forward will allow a team to skip a challenge. Each team is provided a Fast Forward to be used one time during the race. It can be used at any time in the race with the exception of the last challenge.
Speed Bump
A speed bump is an additional challenge given to a team to complete. The race organizers may give this challenge to any team deemed to have an advantage (like an all teacher team). The Fast Forward can’t be used to skip a Speed Bump.
