In September, I reminded everyone of the foundation of our driveline process and asked for all to respect our neighbors' property. Thank you to everyone that has contributed to improving our afternoon drop off process with better staged arrival times. It has helped enormously.
I am constantly in contact with our neighbors to maintain open lines of communication regarding any impact we may have on their businesses. Unfortunately, I have received some negative feedback on behavior we must correct or it could have serious adverse implications on our entire drop off and pick up procedures.
We have an agreement with Front Range Community College (FRCC) to use a portion of their east parking lot for overflow parking. They are observing our parents cutting through their parking lots to avoid traffic on Miller Drive as a shortcut to Pike Road. The vehicles are travelling too fast for the parking lot and it has created unsafe conditions. This is occurring both in the morning and the afternoon. If they continue to see the unsafe behavior, they will rescind our agreement of the use of their parking lot for the safety of their students and staff.
I cannot explain how devastating this would be for our entire afternoon release process. Their generous cooperation allows us to safely allow walkers to leave our property and load in a parking lot instead of the street. This is a huge safety improvement and service to our families that we do not want to lose. Additionally, please do not use any of our neighbors' properties to turn around. The attached map shows the only location we are authorized to park or enter another neighbor's parking lots. The map is of our morning traffic patterns; however, the turnarounds and cutting through is strictly prohibited.
I ask that you please exercise patience as traffic congestion around schools has become the norm. It's a product of our mobile society and busy lifestyles. But that busy-ness cannot ever jeopardize the safety of our children. Losing the FRCC parking lot will create an undue burden on everyone to safely reunite with their children on the streets or extend the duration of our driveline to an unreasonable amount of time.
Thank you for your time and cooperation.
