What am I Funding?
Let us know if your student has an injury & cannot participate.
What is the Dragon Dash Fun Run?
The Dragon Dash Fun Run is the PTO’s largest fundraiser, with the run taking place on Friday, October 4th. Families collect donations for the laps their student(s) walk/jog/run at the Dragon Dash Fun Run. Funds raised from this event go to help fund the PTO’s Annual Budget.
What is Boosterthon & why is Flagstaff Academy PTO partnering with them this year?
Boosterthon is a national fun run company specializing in helping schools raise funds with their fitness and character programs. Flagstaff Academy PTO is partnering with Boosterthon this year to infuse Dragon Dash with fresh ideas and to reduce the amount of volunteers and volunteer hours needed to successfully run this event.
What are we raising funds for?
Dragon Dash donations will be used to help fund the PTO Annual Budget. These funds go directly back to the school to pay for amenities not found elsewhere in the district. Last year, donations helped fund the Innovations Lab, coding software, a digital piano, posture chairs for music, library books, the bouldering wall, Colorado Mountain Club Outdoor Education, chromebooks and many more items! This year, 10% of net donations will go directly back to your student’s classroom teacher! learn more
How do parents register their student(s)?
Parents log in or sign up on funrun.com. Then, parents register their student as a participant on
funrun.com by searching for the school by name. Students get a free prize for registering.
Is it safe to register my student(s) at FunRun.com?
Yes! funrun.com is protected by and covered under COPPA, the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, which means Boosterthon will not disseminate any personal information. Boosterthon follows all standards associated with that act to create the safest online environment possible. That’s why in order to create an account, you must be 18 years or older and why there is a waiver that parents must accept when they register their student.
Is my credit card information safe?
Yes! Boosterthon’s payment processor is Braintree, a service provided by PayPal, which is one of the
most common and reputable payment processors.
How can students get pledges?
Parents can help connect to donors by sharing their pledge page on Facebook, through email, or even a text. Donors can enter and pay for those pledges online on your student’s page!
Can donors pay for pledges online?
YES! Donors will be prompted to pay online for all pledges, even per lap pledges. Donors will receive an email after the run with the amount of their payment based on how many laps were run.
Can I make a pledge if I don’t want to pay online?
Yes. You can either turn in the payment for a pledge listed on the pledgebook, or you can request to turn off online payments for your account through our help desk on funrun.com. If you turn in a cash or check donation, please put the donation into an envelope clearly labeled with your student’s name and teacher’s name.
Can I Write A Check?
For pledges not made on funrun.com, you can turn in cash or check to the school by Friday, October 11th. Place your donation into an enclosed envelope clearly labeled with your student’s & teacher’s name. Please make checks out to: Flagstaff Academy PTO
What if families don’t have Internet?
If a student’s family does not have Internet access, parents and families can use the pledgebook to
record all pledges and send in the payment with the pledgebook. If students turn their pledgebook and payment into their teacher, please make sure student and class name are listed on the pledgebook.
Will my student still earn prizes for donations they collect this year?
Yes! During the program, students will receive the prizes they’ve earned for the donations (per lap or flat) the very next day. They will not have to wait until December or January to receive the prizes they earned like in years past.
Can students receive a prize for flat donations?
Yes! All flat donations count toward pledges and are rounded by 30 (the average student will run over 30 laps). So, a $30 donation is the same as $1 per lap. A $60 donation is the same as $2 per lap, etc.
Will my student really run 30 laps? How big is the track?
Yes, even pre-schoolers & kindergarteners! The Fun Run track is about 1/16th of a mile. In years past, the Dragon Dash track was about 1/10th of a mile. The average student will run 30-35 laps and will have a goal to run at least 30 laps to help their school. The most any student will be counted for is 35 laps.
Will the Dragon Dash Fun Run be on the grass or in the parking lot this year?
Like last year, our fun run will be held in the West parking lot this year. Our Elementary playground is
not able to withstand the impact of 900+ people running in the same circle all day.
Is running on the pavement safe?
Last year, we actually had fewer injuries than in past years. This year, Dragon Dash is a Fun Run so
students will jog, run, skip, jump, do a conga line and take dance breaks. Middle School students will participate in a Color Run. We also have a First Aid kit and a volunteer with medical training to tend to any injuries.
Does my student need to bring anything special that day?
Please have students wear athletic shoes on Friday, October 5th. Otherwise, they do not need to bring anything.
Can I run with my student(s)?
We encourage parents to cheer on the sidelines for safety reasons.  You are welcome to join your child for the last "victory lap" if you'd like.
Will top finishers in each class receive awards this year?
No ribbons, medals or trophies will be awarded this year. The focus is on fun and completing laps to
fundraise for the school.
Will student(s) receive a snack and water after they run this year?
Water will be available while students are running. Students can drink from their water bottles or
drinking fountains inside the school when the Fun Run is over. Students will not be receiving a snack
after running this year. Parents are welcome to pack an extra snack for their student(s).
How will the number of laps my student(s) run be tracked this year?
Each student will receive a Flagstaff Dragon Dash t-shirt with a lap marking graphic on the back of the shirt. Volunteers will make a mark on the back of each student’s shirt as they complete a lap.

Fundraising is essential to making our school exceptional. Our goal is to raise $70,000 (What am I Funding?) to support our students and Flagstaff's amazing programs. The Dragon Dash Jog-a-thon offers every student the opportunity to run, jog or walk in order to raise money for our school by collecting pledges. Dragon Dash is a school-wide culture building event. All students will feel the excitement on Fun Run day!
